Global Youth Day

Greetings All,

As you know, this sabbath we join with tens of thousands of Adventist Youth, Young Adults and the Young-at-Heart in a special outreach day dubbed Global Youth Day. This is 1 day out of the 365, 1 Sabbath out of the 52 per year, when the entire day is spent doing outreach and acts of kindness.

This year under the general theme of “Be the Sermon” the General Conference has asked us to participate in a Food and Water Drive, giving away items of food and water to folk in the community who would be appreciative and receptive of such giving. In addition, we will offer prayer, a tract and an invitation (through the Water bottle label) to the Sanctuary Encounter exhibit that our church is hosting next month at the Mall at Fairfield Commons in Beavercreek.

Our outline for the entire day of outreach is attached and follows the general outline given by the General Conference. Some of you, are participating in multiple areas throughout the day. The youngest among us, Primary, Kindergarten and Cradle Roll will be doing a program at the Brookdale Assisted Living center on Indian Ripple. The everyone will not be able to attend the final act of kindness venue, but it is primarily for, but not exclusive to, the Young Adult group and involves serving dinner at the Bridges of Hope Homeless Shelter in Xenia. We will also offer haircuts. To accomplish this we need individuals who can cut hair of different textures. (The necessary instruments and gloves will be provided.)

Remember to be dressed in Jeans, comfortable shoes (Tennis shoes), and your Beavercreek HOPE T-shirt. If you do not have one you may get one at church tomorrow, Friday March 16, between 6 and 6:30. Otherwise you can change into it on Sabbath morning. Please arrive at 9:45 am.

Lunch and supper is being provided for all participants. Finally, there is an app that goes along with this outreach. With this app you can see what other groups are doing around the world and share your activities with them as well as we encourage one another.

If you have an Android Phone please download your app here.

If you have… an iphone, please download your app here.

I hope your faith stays strong amidst the non-stop news of the tragedies in and around our country and communities, and with your own time and influence you can help to brighten someone’s day.  If you missed our Year in Review Video played at our End of Year Dinner in December, you may view it in the post below.

This week we will study the second to last part of the narrative series Dare to Be… Pt. 7 – The Lion Tamer.  See and, if impressed to do so, share the attached graphic and invite someone to church.

We continue to pray for those who are recuperating from the cold or flu.    Also pray for those who will be on the roads this weekend.  Some will be heading to Camp Mohaven for the Young Adult Immersion Weekend, while others will be traveling elsewhere or returning home.

May God be with you all
